How the Polymarket trader rankings work
Every trader is scored from their complete resolved-bet history and their all-time profit-and-loss curve. We plot them on two axes. Skill is the return on the capital they actually put at risk — a trader who sizes up when they are right scores highly even with a sub-50% win rate. Reliability is a Probabilistic Sharpe Ratio: the statistical confidence that the edge is real and not a lucky streak, which falls for small samples and for traders whose gains came with dangerous downside.
Counting wins alone is misleading: a trader can win 90% of their bets and still lose money if the occasional loss is huge. So we separate two traps — Fragile traders, whose average loss dwarfs their average win, and Round-trippers, who built a large profit and then gave most of it back — from the genuinely consistent winners (Snipers, Grinders and Balanced traders) you actually want to follow.

- How are the top Polymarket traders ranked?
- Each trader is scored from their full resolved-bet history and all-time profit-and-loss curve on three things: real profit (total P&L), skill (return on the capital they deployed), and reliability — a Probabilistic Sharpe Ratio that measures how confident we can be that the edge is real rather than luck. The leaderboard shows the proven, net-positive traders ranked by real profit.
- What is the difference between a skilled trader and a lucky one?
- A lucky trader has a good number on a small or volatile sample. The reliability score regularises for sample size and the shape of the P&L, so a handful of winning bets does not outrank a long, consistent track record. Traders with too little history sit in the "Noise" quadrant until they have proven themselves.
- Why are some high win-rate traders flagged as risky?
- A 90% win rate can still lose money if the rare losses are far larger than the frequent wins. We flag two failure modes: "Fragile" traders, whose average loss dwarfs their average win, and "Round-trippers", who built a big profit and then gave most of it back. Both can look like top traders on win rate alone, so they are separated out rather than ranked as winners.
